        The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Turkey presents its compliments to all Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations accredited to the Republic of Turkey and has the honor to inform that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has decided in the framework of the International Decide of “Water for Life” to convene on 27-28 June 2008 in the City of Dushanbe an International Conference on natural disaster connected with water.

        The Conference aims at boosting cooperation, propagating and exchanging opinions, increasing public knowledge about reduction of natural disaster connected with water in order to make an important contribution to implementing UNGA Resolution A/RES/59/227 dated 23rd 2003 on promulgation of the 2005-2015 decade as International Decade of “Water for Life” by the UNGA by the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

        Nowadays are increasing the volume of losses from natural disastrous resulting in severe consequences. As disastrous risks grow into global ones whatever risk emerging in one of the regions worldwide could influence on existing yet risks in the others regions or vice versa. Such situation connected,  in the aggregate, with increasing vulnerability resulting from changeable demographic, technological and socio-economic conditions, broadening  unplanned urbanization, new housing developments in the high  risky zones, under-developing, environmental pollution, natural climatic changes, struggle for natural resources might prefer more and more menaces to the world economy, world population and sustainable development, particularly, in terms of developing countries. Natural disaster caused by water is more disastrous one throughout the world and menaces more often to the society, lives, and personal prosperities. Given this state of affairs nowadays disaster reduction policy worldwide has being incorporated in the policy and plans of sustainable development and is being supported by bilateral, regional and international cooperation, as well as policy of partnership.

        Sustainable development, poverty reduction, disastrous risk managing in the proper way as well its reduction are intertwined tasks and in order to solve problems in the future, it should make every effort at the national and other  levels to set up  a necessary potential for risk to manage and reduce. Such moving should be considered as significant intrinsic and integral part of the internationally adopted goals in sustainable development, as well as goals of the Millennium Declaration. All of these are also immediate task of the International Decade “Water for Life” promulgated by UNGA by initiative of the President of Tajikistan.

        Many International Institutions and organizations, particularly UNDP, UNIS on Disaster Reduction, International Found for saving the Aral Sea form  the intention of being the partner to carry on the Conference.

        To the Conference will be invited representatives of the Governments, international and intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, financial training and academic institutions, as well as representatives of the private business. Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan is expected to address the Conference.

        In the present time has sat an organizing committee leading by the Prime-Minister of Tajikistan Aquil Aquilov, from which the Embassy will in the immediate future receive detail information, as well participation conditions for dissemination. Further information about the conference, moreover will be available through the web-site of the Conference, which will be operational in the immediate future and which the Embassy will disseminate across the Turkey at the earliest possible date.
